PRODUCERS

Ignite Design is inspired by the many craft producers of KwaZulu-Natal who infuse each handmade item with creative pride, lively enthusiasm, many hours of time and the dream of a sustainable livelihood for themselves and their families.

Bertinah Khumalo,

originator of the decorative piece that inspired the
Langazela Collection, is a master crafter from Umzinyathi district, where Zulu craft thrives. Here women still make clay pots, sew traditional attire for women and men, and make decorative pieces using beads.

Ncengani Mahlinza,

a mother of four from the Umkhanyakude district, acquired her craft skills from generations that came before her. “I’m inspired by mothers, our craft group, Siphumelele, and my community, KwaHlabisa eMakhowa. I’m surrounded by beauty."
